Guides / VPN keeps disconnecting — quick fixes for 4U

When 4U disconnects — what to check

Most “VPN not working” reports on phones come from a short list of causes: the free timer ended, the OS suspended the app, the network blocks VPN, or the selected server is unhealthy.

Check the free session first

On the free tier, about 10 hours of use is available without signup. When that session ends, 4U disconnects by design. Renew free access as offered in the app, or subscribe to Premium for the subscription period. There is no 3-day trial.

Quick recovery steps

  • Toggle airplane mode or switch between Wi‑Fi and mobile data, then reconnect
  • Try another server location in the app
  • Update 4U from the App Store or Google Play
  • On Android, exclude 4U from aggressive battery optimization if the tunnel dies when the screen locks
  • On iOS, confirm the VPN configuration is still present under Settings → VPN

If a network blocks VPN

Some hotel or corporate networks interfere with VPN protocols. Move to mobile data temporarily, or try again on another network. Contact support via the Contacts page if official-store installs still fail after updates.

Troubleshooting tips are general. OEM skins and network policies differ.
